Clothes Closet

Through the work of church volunteers, the Clothes Closet provides clothing to needy individuals and families referred to the church by social service agencies. It is especially beneficial to individuals and families who are experiencing economic hardship or are displaced from their homes due to fire or other catastrophe. Clothing from the Clothes Closet is also periodically provided to Mission Haven, a Presbyterian women-sponsored organization that offers clothes to missionaries and students at Presbyterian seminaries.

Church members who wish to donate gently used clothing may drop them off at the church office. Items must be clean and neatly folded or on hangers. Shoes, underwear, sleepwear (except for babies/toddlers), and bathing suits are not accepted. Donations are stored downstairs in the church’s Food Bank building.

Food Bank

Church members operate a Food Bank that offers food to our neighbors in need. It is housed on the first floor of our Food Bank building located directly behind the church on the corner of King and Adams streets. Food is available for those referred by local social service agencies. Recipients are provided with canned goods such as soup, fruit, vegetables, and other non-perishable items. The Food Bank is open every Tuesday from 5 PM to 6 PM and during emergencies through the church office (850) 627-6576.

Special Needs Christmas Tree Project

The Special Needs Christmas Tree Project is sponsored by the Women of the Church. Its purpose is to provide Christmas gifts for special needs students at a local high school. The gifts are purchased by church members and are presented to the students at a special Christmas party. The kids’ smiling faces make it easy to see God freely blesses not just the children, but the givers, too.

Missionaries

For more than 175 years Presbyterians have sent missionaries around the world to plant churches, build hospitals, start schools and offer stability in the midst of chaos. Today there are approximately 200 mission workers, in nearly 50 countries, supported by our denomination and engaged in ministries of sharing faith and working to fight poverty and violence.

Our church supports seven missionaries and one young adult volunteer. They are:

  • Drs Les and Cynthia Morgan, Bangladesh, are physicians who advise and train care workers and also care for patients in small community clinics.
  • Jonathan and Emily Sietz, Taiwan, are teachers. Jonathan teaches students preparing for the ministry at the Taiwan Theological College while Emily plans to teach library science.
  • Amanda Craft, Guatemala, is a facilitator for the Presbyterian Border Ministry.
  • Dr. Daniel and Elizabeth Turk, Madagascar, believe that “Christian witness should include both the physical and spiritual need of God’s people and care for all God’s creation,” as they work toward that goal.
